The Curious Incident of The Dog in The Night-Time book review.

The Curious Incident of The Dog in The Night-Time.

This book is about a fifteen year old boy called Christopher Boone, who has Asperger's Syndrome. In this story he loves dogs- and when his next door neighbours dog is found murdered, he decides to find out who murdered it. Through-out this story, Christopher discovers a lot about his mother, where as he never even knew she was alive before.
This book is has been described as funny and emotional. It's slightly comedic, and quite emotional.
It's not suitable for younger children, due to the language, however, if you want to find out more about asporgers syndrome, it's a great way to find out the thoughts of a person with aspogers syndrome, because your reading from a whole other perspective.
The Times described the book as "Wondrous...Brilliantly inventive, full of dazzling set pieces...unbearably sad, yet also skilfully dodging any encounters with sentimentality...
Not simply the most original novel I've read in years... it's also one of the best."
I give this book 4 out of 5, because I enjoyed the story line and I liked reading this first book of a new author, I think I will try read some more of Mark Haddons book.

"I stroked Wellington and wondered who had killed him, and why."

What Hunger Games district are you from?

What Hunger Games district are you from?

This time, I'm going to do a personality quiz on the book I last reviewed. The Hunger Games is a trilogy based on Katniss Everdeen, a tribute from district 12. There's lots of tributes, from different districts. The districts mostly mentioned in the book are district one, two, five, eleven and twelve. Either their characters are mentioned a lot- or just the districts to.

Question one:
You have been reaped- what is your reaction?
1.You run up to the stage and show the world the newest tribute- you knew this day would come!
2. You walk up to the stage, nervous, but eager to live and win.
3. You are close to members of your district, and you may have to kill one of them. You wish this day had never come.
4.You gasp in shock, but accept your fate.

Question two:
What do you do in training?
1. Look at what the other tributes are doing, along with the careers. See if there's anyone who could be of any use to you, and show off- it's not like any of the other tributes will beat you.
2. Practise- on your own.
3. Practise, joke, and remember to stay with the other tribute at all times.
4. Do whatever your mentor said, even if your unhappy, and decide what you think about the other tributes.

Question three:
How do you impress the capitol in your interview?
1. I stick to my style- and show off, we are the only interesting districts, what could go wrong?
2. I'll just do what I can to stay alive in the arena, sponsors don't matter that much- and don't associate my answers with anyone else.
3. Be myself, just because I want to.
4. Be myself, because I have been told that's the best thing to do- maybe add some gossip, or some suspense, so that I can live.

Question four:
What's your tactic in the arena?
1. Stay with the group- have fun, and win- but we already know I will.
2. Silently grab anything I can, and try use brains instead of weapons- I'll stay on my own and try to kill as little as I can.
3. Stay on my own- but look out for my district partner, and either stick with hiding or hunting
4. Only make allies when needed- don't kill anyone innocent, maybe only for self-defence, or when you really need to.

Question five:
YOU'VE WON! What do you do now?
1. I knew I'd win, now I can enjoy my life in luxury!
2. Stay the mysterious character, and just forget about the arena.
3. Make sure everyone remembers your allies and district partners, and try to think of it as you were never even reaped.
4. Try to forget- or remember...

Which district are you from?

If you got mostly 1:
You are a career- you are either district one or two,
If your eager, and serious about winning- Cato, or Clove from district 2.
If you love wealth and fame, and you were excited for the hunger games- Glimmer or Marvel from district 1.

If you got mostly 2:
District 5- Foxface, Foxface is clever, and smart- she knows the best tactics for winning, and works on her own- she's also quite quiet.

If you got mostly 3:
District 11-
members from district 11 care about the other members quite a lot, even though peace keepers are really strict there- you could be Rue or Cato- if you're like Rue, you're also like Katniss' little sister- Prim.

If you got mostly 4:
Your like Katniss or Peeta from district twelve, Katniss is strong and knows how to stay together- and only trusts some people.
Peeta is kind and trusting, you can trust him yourself.

Which district are you?

Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins book review.

Hunger Games- By Suzanne Collins.

When I began reading this book I just couldn't put it down. There was suspense in every single chapter- I read a bit, and ended up reading much more than expected! I am, myself, a hunger games fan. When I read the books, I saw no faults in them. There's an important message about young people fighting in war, and how it feels to be one of them.
I haven't read any books I think have beat it!
I recommend each and every one of you readers to read this trilogy.
Every year, two children from each of twelve districts is chosen out to participate in the Hunger Games, where they fight to the death in an arena. The last one alive wins. When Katniss Everdeen's younger sister is chosen out, she volunteers for her, and it changes her entire life.
There's quite a lot of characters in this book, but I don't think the amount of characters is over done.
I've mostly heard this book is aimed at teenagers, however, I have heard of many adults reading it, and enjoying the books. Therefore, I've always thought it was aimed at a varied audience.
The suspense clings the reader to the book, and there's plenty of quotes that you can still remember once you've finished the books, like, "May the odds be ever in your favour" or, "if we burn- you burn with us!"
Suzanne Collins actually came up with the idea when she was channel flicking, between footage of real life war- with young people fighting, and footage of a competition of some sort.
Overall, I give this book 5 out of 5, for it's important message portrayed in the right way, the suspense that keeps the reader reading the book, an- just the amazing book in total!
I hope you'll read the book, and- I'm actually going to begin work on a Hunger Games Quiz for my blog.
Just before I finish this blog, I want to say to all the Hunger Games fans out there- you're awesome- and are you excited for the next movie?

"If we burn- you burn with us!"

Five books you should definately read!

It's great to stick your head into a book when you want to-but it's hard finding an entertaining book that's perfect for you, and blurbs aren't always best to help find out whether you want to read that book or not. That's where book reviews come handy.
This blog is designed to help you discover books that could soon become your favourite books!
The world of books is quite large- you can find yourself anywhere- at anytime! To kick-start this blog, I'm going to tell you about 5 books, from my experience, that I think you should definitely read, getting even better (along the list) as we go down.

At five:
Michael Morpugo- "The butterfly lion".
Michael Morpugo is one of my favourite writers- not only are his books suitable for a varied audience, but he spread quite important messages to the readers through his books. Many of his books are about war, and what soldiers felt when they were at war- "The butterfly lion" is about a lion adopted by a family, and looked after. One day, Bernie, a little boy who looked after the lion like his brother, decides he has to let him free- but he was certain he would meet him again.

At four:
Michael Morpugo- "War horse"
Another amazingly emotional Michael Morpugo book, based on war, love and hate. In this book, the main message is we shouldn't always result in violence- violence is never the answer. This book shows life in war- and is narrated, by a horse.

At three:
Jodi Picoult- "My sisters keeper".
Before you read this book, remember to buy a box of tissues, or two.
Kate has been diagnosed with leukaemia, and her younger sister, Anna is a designer baby- she was born to save her sister, and one day she decides to sue her parents for the right to her own body.
I have to say, without giving anything away- the ending shocked me. You'll be crying- a lot.

At two:
Randa Abdel Fatah- "Does my head look big in this".
This book is absolutely amazing! The main message it portrays is- I will be me. Amal is an amazing friend and student, and decides to wear the hijab in high-school. At first she debates whether or whether not to, and has slight difficulty deciding. I learnt a lot from this book, to be me, not to let others get in my way- and, most important of all- to please my God is way more important than pleasing anyone else.

At one:
Suzanne Collins- "Hunger Games"
You absolutely have to read each book in the trilogy!
Each year one boy and one girl from every district (of twelve districts) is reaped, and selected to fight to the death in an arena, and when Katniss Everdeen volunteers for her younger sister, her entire life is changed. This trilogy is absolutely amazing- and I insist you read it! I watched the movie to, and they say a movie never beats the book- but this movie was nearly as good as the book!

I hope you found at least one book your going to read from this list- and each week I am going to add a quote from the book I have talked about- next time, I'm going to review today's number one book. So to end today:

"May the odds be ever in your favour".
